I worked as a microbiologist in the packaging industry and later as a research chemical technician with Milliken Research. I had the opportunity to participate in a career day at a local school to showcase my field of work with the hope of inspiring students to become scientists. Little did I know that the students would instead inspire me to become a teacher. As a result, I began taking evening classes to complete a teaching degree.
I began teaching in Greenville County in January 2004 at Greer Middle School and in August 2011 at Riverside Middle School.
While working as a teacher, a patent (US number 6,689,175) that I worked on while at Milliken was approved in February 2004. This experience was a long process and a true example of teamwork at its highest level.
My husband and I live in Greer and have three children, Fulton, Jie, and Callie Rae.
