My name is Ashley Murphy and I am a licensed professional counselor (LPC). I'm excited to be serving as the mental health therapist at Crestview Elementary School. I have served as a School Mental Health Therapist in Greenville County School District for 14 school years and in the field of mental health for 22 years. I earned my Bachelor of Science from Winthrop University in 2004 and a Master of Arts (MA) in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in 2011. I am a licensed therapist in Mental Health Counseling as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have experience treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidality and related disorders. My approach is strengths based, helping students and families build on their strengths and improve overall functioning. I am trained in the following treatment modalities: solution focused interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing skills, trauma focused interventions, art therapy interventions and crisis interventions.
I am currently involved in the Greenville and Spartanburg communities, where I volunteer with young adults through mentoring programs. I am a native of Boiling Springs, SC and enjoy interacting with children, traveling, shopping and spending time with my family.
My counseling philosophy is centered on mutual respect, genuineness, acceptance, being present, and empathy. Every client is diverse in upbringing, values, interests, and strengths, and I will work to build an inclusive therapeutic relationship that is supportive, safe, and tailored to the individual needs of each client.
