About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Ms. Rainey and welcome to 7th grade ELA! This is my first year as a teacher with my own classroom, and I feel so fortunate I get to start my teaching career at Riverside Middle School.

I am originally from the suburbs of Chicago. I was born and raised in a town called Roselle, which is about 30 minutes from the heart of Chicago. I then moved to a couple other towns in the Chicago area for the last few years I lived in Illinois. I attended Northern Illinois University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and earned my Reading Teacher Endorsement. I had worked in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms for my clinical experiences as well as student taught in a 5th grade classroom for an entire school year.

Last year, I was a substitute in the Greenville County School District where I explored substitute teaching from the elementary level up to the high school level. I quickly came to the realization that I really enjoyed the middle school level, so I tried to substitute as much as I could at RMS. I then joined the RMS staff as a full-time substitute in March 2023. I am now returning to start this new school year as a 7th grade teacher.

I am so excited that I get the opportunity to learn and grow alongside my students this year. I can't wait to accomplish so much and have an amazing school year together in 7th grade!
