Hi everyone! My name is Ms. Rainey and welcome to 6th grade ELA! This is my third year as a teacher at Riverside Middle School, and I can't wait to work with my new students as they start their middle school journey.
I am originally from the suburbs of Chicago, IL. I was born and raised in a town called Roselle, which is about thirty minutes from the heart of Chicago. I then moved to a couple of other towns in the Chicago area for the last few years I lived in Illinois. I attended Northern Illinois University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and earned my Reading Teacher Endorsement. I worked in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms during my clinical experiences and completed a full year of student teaching in a 5th grade classroom.
After moving to South Carolina, I worked as a substitute teacher in the Greenville County School District, teaching at all levels from elementary through high school. I quickly discovered that I loved working with middle schoolers, so I focused much of my time substituting at Riverside Middle School. In March 2023, I joined the RMS staff as a full-time substitute. During my first year as a certified teacher, I taught 7th grade ELA. Last school year, I moved to 6th grade ELA and I'm thrilled to continue teaching in 6th grade this year!
I am so excited that I get the opportunity to learn and grow alongside my students this year. I can't wait to accomplish so much and have an amazing school year together in 6th grade!
