I want to introduce myself as the principal of Bell’s Crossing Elementary School. My name is Christopher Ross, and I have been the principal at Bell's Crossing since 2012. I come to Bell's Crossing after seven years as the principal of Fork Shoals School.
As a child, I moved around quite a bit. I was born in Key West, Florida when my father was stationed there in the Army. I left Flordia by the age of one, and we went to live close to our family in Columbus, Ohio. Both of my parents attended Ohio State University. My family moved again during my elementary school years. Those years were spent in Boston, Massachusetts. We moved once again when I began middle school. This time to Vermont. I was there until 10th grade. This time we moved south to Summerville, South Carolina. That is where I completed high school.
My desire to be in the field of education began when I attended Winthrop University (Rock Hill, SC) for my undergraduate studies. There I majored in early childhood education and met my future wife. After we graduated, we moved to Greenville to take jobs in the Greenville County School District. I was hired as a fourth-grade teacher at Oakview Elementary School, and my wife taught kindergarten at Simpsonville Elementary. A few years into my teaching career I began working on my master's degree in School Leadership at Furman University. Upon completion of my master's degree, I was hired as the assistant principal at Buena Vista Elementary School. After two years as an assistant principal, I became principal at Fork Shoals School.
My wife and I have three children. Alexander is the oldest works as a broadcast journalist. Carson is my middle child and he attend the University of South Carolina. Ellis Kate is our youngest and attends Hillcrest Middle School. My wife, Ashley, is an ELL teacher in Greenville County Schools. Her work is to support students where English is not their primary language spoken in the home.
My wife and I enjoy spending time with our children by reading with them, watching them on the ball fields, and playing with them outside. I believe in working collaboratively with the teachers, staff, parents, and community of Bell’s Crossing to grow and develop our children. I am honored to be the principal of Bell's Crossing Elementary School.
