Cynthia Brandeis – Business Education Teacher; Travelers Rest High

Passionate about being an educator perfectly describes Cynthia Brandeis.  Both students and teachers feel supported by her, and she always wants her students to do their very best.  Cynthia has gone above and beyond the call of duty by volunteering to assist virtual Geometry students during her planning period.  Not only does she want her students to master the state standards, but Cynthia is an advocate for students’ social and emotional well-being.  She also supports new teachers in and outside the classroom.  Both students and colleagues know that Cynthia is a trusted adult on campus to depend on, if needed.

What a blessing and thank you to whomever entered my name for this great honor!

This is my 8th year at Travelers Rest High School, returning after a fabulous and dynamic 7th year.

If you have not already met me I am a CATE Instructor who teaches Fundamentals of Web Design,

Advanced Web Design, and Entrepreneurship.  This year I am taking up the challenge of Foundations in Animation.

I have implemented a "Compensation Program" with all of my students, by their partipation in clubs, teams, doing their work, attending class they receive 'play money' to be used at the end of the semester to purchase items through an auction that cost more than $10 to purchase in a regular store.

The Doctor's prescription for success:

Entrepreneurship - learning how to create a business plan for your own business.

Fundamentals of Web Design - learning the history and purpose of websites and how to create a website for personal use or business undertaking using HTML, CSS and Java Script.

Advanced Web Deisgn - learning to create Applications (APP), Virtual Reality, and more advanced HTML coding.

THE DOCTOR'S ROUNDS

I taught 20 years in the Illinois Christian and Catholic Schools.  I love young people and I am very concerned about their growth as individuals.  I have had the opportunity to teach Physical Education, Biology, Social Studies, and Business Education.

I am certified in Elementary Education, Middle School and High School with a Masters in Religious Studies, and a Masters in Business Education.

Previous to coming to TRHS I was a Substitute in the Greenville County School System with an entire year at Northwest Middle School here in TR.

I completed and graduated with my Doctorate in Philosophy of Christian Education on August 6, 2016.

THE DOCTOR'S LIFE WITH MR. BRANDEIS

My husband, Frank, is a retired Counselor.  He enjoys working with children.  Frank has decided to take the easy life and enjoy watching bowling and college softball on TV.

I am blessed to be a mother of one and a step-mother of 6 children, 16 grandchildren and 5 great-grand children.

We both like the beach, gardening, crafts, sports, and coming to TR Events like Prom 2017.

Frank has had some physical setbacks this past year, so I needed to take some time off to take care of him, hopefully he will stay strong this year.  Unfortunately, Frank passed away on August 30, 2023.  He will be greatly missed.

Thank you TR for your wonderful support and encouragement while I was initiated into the DEVILDOG world!

Working at Travelers Rest High School has been an answer to prayer, to have the opportunity to reach more students and assist them in choosing what is right, and challenging them to learn and apply it to their lives on a daily basis is truly a blessing.
