How does my child register for middle school?

Your child is automatically registered for a certain middle school based on your address.  Parents don’t need to contact the middle school to register if your child is attending the school they are zoned for.  If you are applying for special permission or magnet academies, your process will be different. To check where your child is zoned for based on your address, visit: https://public.greenville.k12.sc.us/GeoAddress.aspx

How can we plan ahead?

Before registration begins, you can preview the courses your child’s middle school will offer.  This may help you and your child make more informed decisions about your selections.  This online catalog will be launched with accurate information in February.  https://www.greenville.k12.sc.us/Parents/main.asp?titleid=catalogs

Do middle schools have tours or curriculum nights?

How will my child choose courses?

What are the registration dates?

Between the end of February and the start of March, Ms. Day and Ms. Pfeiffer will meet with students to register for 6th grade courses.  You will receive a printed copy of your child’s selections (Student Course Request Letter) in March.  You can also view information in Parent Backpack or Student Backpack.

What if we are registered somewhere else?

If you already know your student will attend a school other than Northwood or Riverside, please review the course catalog, open house dates, and contacts of the school where your child will attend next yearIf you are awaiting information about placement in a magnet, private, or charter middle school, we will register your child for the public school they are zoned to attend.

If you do not have access to the internet, please contact us or your child’s teacher ASAP.  We can print a paper copy of the middle school course catalog for you to review.
