Welcome to English 8!
Students will study composition and literature within the context of English Language Arts in grade eight. Instruction will utilize close reading, analytical writing, and literary analysis as outlined in the 2020 South Carolina English Language Arts College and Career Ready Standards for grade eight. The analytical skills are aligned to the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate and will continue to build the world-class knowledge and skills necessary to prepare students for college and careers. The thematic approach allows for connections to be made between texts and writing assignments when taught in a scaffolded progression.
