Volunteers NEEDED!
We would love to parents and grandparents come and help us make sandwiches by volunteering for the Bag Lunches Program. If you are interested in helping, please email me at bmorgan@greenville.k12.sc.us or call me at 864-355-2753.
About the PROGRAM!
This program has been around for almost 30 years now and is a cornerstone of Duncan Chapel's commitment to helping and serving in our community. We had to stop making sandwiches at the school due to Covid-restrictions.
Duncan Chapel Elementary and Reedy River Baptist Church are teaming up once again to prepare bag lunches for the homeless. Around 25-30 students, along with parents and volunteers, prepare 180 bag lunches a week for the homeless in the area. Reedy River Baptist Church distributes the bag lunches twice a week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, to the homeless in the Greenville area - we call it the Poinsett Corridor. We prepare the lunches every Monday after school from 2:15 – 3:00 in the art room. The lunches include: 2 bologna sandwiches, a juice box, crackers, a peppermint, sanitation wipes, mayonnaise, mustard and a note from our students and the church. There are two rotations of around 30 students for each rotation who participate in this program throughout the school year.
