Accrued student absences may not exceed ten days during the school year. Any absence in excess of ten days may cause the student to lose credit for the year.

Rules and consequences

Welcome Elementary is a PBIS school, which focuses on rewarding positive behavior. School-wide expectations are taught at the beginning of the school year and enforced by all faculty and staff. In the event of misbehavior, students may be an “in class reflection” which gives them an opportunity to reflect on their behavior. If misbehavior continues or there is a major discipline issue, students may receive a classroom discipline report or an office referral.

Disciplinary actions will be given for students who misbehave. Misbehavior includes any disruptive behavior that takes away from class instruction.  Students will be given a classroom disciplinary report (CDR).  You will be notified if your child receives a CDR and the school administrator will also be notified.  Please return the CDR signed to the teacher.  Every four CDR’s will have a consequence of In-School-Suspension.

Classroom rules

P are prepared

A act responsibly

W work as a team

S Shows respect

*Referrals will be written immediately for major offenses (ex. Fighting)

*Teacher will use class dojo to give out positive points for great behavior and negative points for inappropriate behavior. -1 is a warning, -2 is silent lunch, -3 is a teacher given consequence, and -4 is a classroom discipline referral.

Tickets: Students will receive tickets based on their number of positive points each day. They may also receive tickets from other teachers throughout the day for having exceptional behavior! There will be an opportunity periodically to spend these tickets.

Pack Paws: Our class will have the opportunity to earn pack paws from another staff member or teacher during the day if the entire class is showing great behavior. These will go toward our pack – a team made up of several classes from around the school. If our pack reaches the designated number of paws for the time period given, they earn a reward. Students will find out their pack the first week of school.
