Welcome to the Blythe Academy Magnet Page!

Blythe Academy is the only elementary world language magnet school in Greenville County that offers a partial immersion program. Through this program, the SC State Standards in math, science and health are taught in both Spanish and French in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade, daily. All students at Blythe receive daily instruction of the SC State Standards in English in English Language Arts and Social Studies. The partial immersion program is made up of talented teachers who share culture with students while they learn content standards in French or Spanish.

Partial Immersion is a means of acquiring a world language through content matter instruction. In the program, students develop communicative and academic proficiency in the target language while succeeding academically in all subject areas at levels comparable to those they would have reached if they had been schooled only in English.

Each magnet academy will conduct an open house event to explain the magnet application process and discuss the

unique characteristics of its magnet program. The events will begin promptly at the start time listed below. Please

Magnet Applications - How do I apply to Blythe Academy?

When you apply for the magnet program, please make sure you carefully read the Magnet Academies FAQs (see below links) and the Magnet Application Procedures BEFORE starting your magnet application and then follow all procedures with submitting it! If these procedures are not followed, then we will be unable to process the magnet application! Additionally, please submit your magnet application only once and do not wait until the last second to submit your magnet application!

Parents/Guardians will apply to Magnet School through PARENT BACKPACK. Returning students DO NOT need to reapply or be assessed.

Greenville County Schools is excited to announce the addition of online magnet applications to the Parent Backpack Portal. Parents will have the option to apply online through their backpack account. To access the online version of the magnet application, parents should login into their PARENT BACKPACK ACCOUNT. Parents of students outside of Greenville County Schools can create a new user account for the purpose of applying to a magnet program at a GCS magnet academy.

Once in their backpack account, parents will . . .

Select "Programs" from the column on the left.

Select "Apply to a Program."

Available programs will show on the screen.

Select "Apply" beside Magnet Academies to begin the magnet application process.

***Parents will be able to apply for MULTIPLE magnet academies in the online system, but they will only be able to submit the magnet application ONCE.

***Parents should make sure to select ALL magnet academies for which their student desires to apply and complete all sections of the magnet application before selecting submit.
