Members must complete at least 20 hours of community service. A minimum of 10 of those hours must be completed by the January checkpoint. There will be opportunities throughout the year at school or hours may be earned outside of school-sponsored activities.
Community service is defined as providing aid to non-profit organizations such as the Humane Society, soup kitchens, hospitals, nursing homes, Meals on Wheels/Mobile Meals, etc. Service to aid individuals may also be granted upon prior approval by Beta Club supervisors. A list of previously accepted service locations is on the website but is subject to change at the discretion of the Advisors.
Over the course of the school year, there are two checkpoints when you should have hours completed. 10 of the service hours need to be turned in no later than December 15th by 3:45 pm.
For seniors, all service hours need to be reported to your Beta Club advisor no later than April 5th by 3:45. Underclassmen must have hours turned in no later than May 1st by 3:45 pm of each school year. Failure to do so may result in probation or removal from Beta Club.
We will hold meetings as needed throughout the school year or for special events which will be posted on Google Classroom.
We have noticed that generally meetings have not been well attended due to schedule conflicts with FCA, band, choir, strings, and sports. Therefore, all information is shared through our Google Classroom.
Students that fail to maintain the required 3.5 GPA for membership will be given a semester of probation to bring their GPA up to 3.5. If they are not able to do so, the student will be dismissed from the club. Once a student has been given a probationary period for failure to maintain a 3.5 GPA, they may not receive a second probation period. If a member fails to meet requirements a second time, they will be removed from membership.
Students that fail to meet the required service hours and types of service hours will be given a probationary period of time to make up the missing hours. If a member fails to make up the hours within the probationary period, he or she will be removed from membership. Students will only be granted one probation period for failure to meet service requirements. If a member fails to meet requirements a second time, they will be removed from membership.
Senior members are not allowed a probationary period, they must maintain good standing for their final year of Beta Club.
If a student is removed from membership for failure to maintain good standing in GPA or service requirements, he or she will not be eligible for membership in the future.
