Getting To Know Mr. Blakely

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome to another exciting school year at Lakeview Middle!

My name is Mr. Blakely and this will be my first year here at Lakeview Middle. In total, this will be my third year teaching and I am excited to be here and look forward to the building of positive relationships and the growth of my students.

I was born and raised in Greenville County and I am a proud product of Greenville County Schools. In fact, I grew up in this neighborhood.. Franklin Ave. I originally started teaching in Cherokee County at Gaffney Middle School and taught 8th grade SC History for two years.

I graduated from Carolina High School in 2006 and joined the US Navy after graduation. In 2011, I left the US Navy to attend college at USC UPSTATE and joined the Army National Guard ROTC/SMP program while in school. After graduating USC UPSTATE with my BA in History and getting my commission as a 2LT, I attend Clemson University (GO TIGERS!) and received my Masters in teaching middle level Social Studies. In 2017, I received my Ed.S in Educational Technology from Walden University. Currently, I have six more classes until I am done with my doctorate degree from Walden University. I love going to school and I love learning. It is my hope that I can encourage and motivate students to have a passion for learning too. Having said all of this, rest assured parents and students, I am Highly Qualified in my subject area and I am thrilled to teach and talk history.

I look forward to working with you in making your son or daughter's time in my history classroom productive and meaningful.

Respectfully,

Mr. Jerry Blakely, Ed.S.
