Title I Facilitator
What is Title I?
Title I is the largest federally funded educational program. The program provides financial assistance to local schools with high percentages of children from low-income families. The purpose of Title I is to provide opportunities for all children to meet the challenging state performance standards. In addition to ensuring that every child receives a quality education, Title I programs also place emphasis on building relationships between school and families.
Berea Elementary School proudly receives Title I funds to help ensure our students find academic success. We use our Title I funds to provide accelerated and enriched academic initiatives to students while also stressing parental involvement in the total school program.
What Happens At A Title I School?
Overall, the teachers, administrators, and other school staff at Berea Elementary work to:
identify students most in need of educational help (regardless of income)
measure student progress using state and local standards
set goals for improvement
implement research-based instructional programs that supplement regular classroom instruction
improve professional knowledge and skills through continuing education
hire additional teachers and support staff
involve parents in all aspects of the school’s Title I program

What Role Do Parents Play?
Parental involvement is a critical component of Title I legislation. Schools receiving Title I funding are obligated to implement programs, activities, and procedures for the involvement of parents in school-related programs. Schools may also provide opportunities for parents to increase their knowledge and skills related to their children’s education. Such programs, activities, and procedures must be planned and implemented after meaningful consultation with parents of participating children.
Who Can I Contact To Learn More or Make Suggestions?
We value your input and welcome your ideas. You may place your written comments in the suggestion box in the school's main office or direct your ideas to the principal via email or in person. Also, you may call the office or one of our Title I staff. Your call will be returned within 24 hours or by the next business day.
