LATE WORK POLICY:
Late Work Policy:
Students are expected to follow classroom rules and complete assignments during the allotted class period. Any student off-task and not completing classroom assignments will receive a disciplinary infraction. This could be in the form of a ROCK step or parent phone call or email. However, if a student misplaces an assignment or needs to hand in any work after the assigned due date, then the student will need to communicate a need for extension with their teacher. Late work may be accepted up to 5 days after the original due date, without a reduction of points. No late work will be accepted within 5 days before the end of a grading period.
Re-Take/Re-Do Policy:
At Hughes Academy, we understand that students learn in different ways, at different paces and in different patterns. We believe in the value of creating a challenging environment where students take ownership of their learning in a personalized manner. We also believe that learning is about mastery, and therefore assessment must also be about mastery. By allowing students extra opportunities to demonstrate mastery of the content, we hope to create an environment that fosters the development of well-rounded and responsible students.
Policy Guidelines:
It is the responsibility of the student to initiate the process of re-taking an assessment.
Students will be allowed to re-take/re-do one major assessment per class, per nine week grading period.
