4K Program Goal
K-4 Goal: The overall goal of K-4 is to improve children’s understanding of the world and to strengthen their desire to continue learning. Appropriate, intellectually challenging learning opportunities are planned to help students meet state and district learner standards in language arts, math, social studies, physical development, the arts, and personal/social development.

Classroom Rules:
Our number rule is to Be Kind to one another!
1. Always listen to your teacher.
2. Keep hands and feet to yourself.
3. Use a quiet voice.
4. Be kind to one another.
5. Always use walking feet.
Procedures for Non-Instructional Routines
Bus riders leave at 1:45 and car riders are dismissed at 2:15. Our hallyway will dismiss in the front parking lot. Car rider drop off in the morning is on the side of the school starting at 7:15. Early dismissal will have to be before 1:30 due to buses. Please be sure to send notification of change in address/phone number.
Please be sure that your child does not bring any toys to school.
Students will need a towel for quiet time as well as a full change of clothes. Please label everything with your child’s name and place in a plastic bag (either a Ziploc bag or a plastic grocery shopping bag).
Communication with Parents
The 4K program supports the development of children as lifelong learners throughout partnerships with each child’s home and family. Parents will be contacted throughout the school year and are encouraged to send a note if a concern arises. Please send notes in the provided folder for your child. These also include doctor notes. Each family will receive a copy of the classroom rules, student work samples, weekly newsletters, notification of parent teacher conferences/meetings as well as other important information from the front office. Please check my class website and SeeSaw for up to date information as well.
Assessment
Evidence for Assessment will include the following sources: work samples, photographs, construction and artifacts and project documentation. Each child will participate in myIGIDS as well.
Student portfolios are shared with parents throughout the year.
A skills report card will be sent home each nine weeks showing progress in each K-4 area: Mathematics, Literacy, and Approaches to Learning, and Social/Emotional. The Skills Report Envelope will need to be signed and returned each nine weeks.
Attendance
Absences: A written excuse from a doctor or parent is needed for all absences. Absences without an excuse will be recorded as unexcused. Please have your child at school by 7:45 if not they will be considered tardy.
Breakfast/Lunch
Breakfast and lunch is free for all students this year. If your child wants to receive a school lunch, the school menu will be listed on Seesaw.
