General Info and Bio

Dr. Adam Scheuch is in his 26th year teaching and 20th year as the Director of Bands of Mauldin High School.  Prior to his current tenure, he served as the Director of Bands for Mauldin Middle School from 1999-2004, and the Assistant Director of Bands in the West Ashley area of Charleston, SC from 1998-1999.  He holds degrees from Furman University (B.M.), VanderCook College of Music (M.M.E.), and American College of Education (Ed.D.).  He is a National Board Certified teacher and a member of Phi Mu Alpha, Phi Beta Mu, Kappa Delta Pi, NAfME, and SCBDA.  He serves as the Lead Band Director for Greenville County Schools and was recognized as the 2014-2015 Teacher of the Year for the Greenville County School District.  In 2019, he received the Citation of Excellence from the National Band Association.  In the SCBDA, Dr. Scheuch served on the Solo and Ensemble, Winter Ensemble, and Marching committees for a combined 19 years and was on the Executive Board as the Awards Chairman for two years.  He currently serves on the Executive Board as the President-Elect of the SCBDA.

The Mauldin High School Band consists of the three concert bands, marching band, jazz band, three winter guards, and indoor percussion.  The band program is a proud recipient of the Outstanding Performance Award, the highest award given by the SCBDA to South Carolina bands, each year since 2006.   The marching band is a Bands of America regional finalist and a regular 5A state finalist.  The winter guard and indoor percussion groups are WGI World Championships semi-finalists.  Various groups have performed throughout the Southeastern United States as well as San Antonio, TX, New Orleans, LA, and Chicago, IL.  In 2019, the wind ensemble was a feature performing group at the South Carolina Music Educators Association state conference.
