Festival of Trees

Kindness Moves Mountains

Watch the video to hear a message from our principal, Mr. Davis, explaining our school's theme which was reflected in our tree this year.

The Fifth Graders were excited to work on creating two different ornaments for our community tree for the St. Francis Festival of Trees in downtown Greenville. The tree's theme mirrored their school theme, "Kindness Moves Mountains." They brainstormed about kindness and how they have reached their community with their kind acts. Once they had discussed how they could show others kindness and thought about a kindness they had done for someone else they created an ornament listing one kindness they had done.

The other ornament that they made for the tree was a clay mountain ornament. They learned about minimalism and how it is characterized by extreme simplicity. They broke down the structure of a mountain to its most basic shape and added textures. Below are pictures of our process.
