Andrew Moore

My name is Andrew Moore, and I'm thrilled to be joining Riverside High School as an English teacher this year. 

For as long as I can remember, I've always had a deep, abiding appreciation of language and how it shapes our daily lives. I was a newspaper journalist for six years before going back to school to pivot into a new career. I hold a B.A. in Communication with a concentration in mass media from USC Upstate, a M.A. in Communication, Technology, and Society from Clemson University, and am currently a PhD candidate working to complete my dissertation in Clemson's Rhetorics, Communication and Information Design doctoral program.

I come to Riverside High School after teaching in higher education at various schools since 2017, having taught Communication, Rhetoric, Media, and English courses at schools ranging from Clemson University, USC Upstate, and Piedmont Technical College. My most recent position was as a Lecturer of Communication at Furman University. 

As a native son of Greenville, I've always held Riverside in high esteem. My father, Don Moore, taught U.S. History here for roughly 30 years, and I've had countless friends and family members walk its halls. I have vivid memories of taking in Warrior football and basketball games, and even accompanying the golf team to some tournaments when my dad was the coach in the 1990's. To me, Riverside High School has always been synonymous with excellence, both academically and athletically. 

When I'm not teaching, I'm generally spending time with my wife and three sons (19, 11, and 4), reading, writing, lifting weights, or watching Clemson sporting events. 

I can't wait to get to know Riverside's students, and to help them grow as critical thinkers, as students, and as human beings. Go Warriors!
