Course Aim and Objectives: The aim of this course is for students to develop proficiency to at least a novice-mid to high level. By the end of the course, they should be able to use some basic words and phrases in French and be able to use discrete sentences related to a topic and task. They will continue to develop competency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing on various themes. They will also expand their knowledge of francophone countries and culture.

There are now also a wide range of free apps that can help to improve your spoken language.
To be successful at learning a new language, continuous practice is highly recommended. There will be lots of new vocabulary and students must make every effort to consciously study them. The websites above are useful. It is also helpful to make flashcards for new or challenging vocabulary. Classwork assignments and learning activities are designed to reinforce the learning of the new vocabulary and structures of the language so it is important that you complete them.

Grades are earned! You build up your grade each day when you participate in class. Therefore, be sure to COMPLETE your daily activities in order to keep your grades up!!
