Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, I embarked on a new chapter in Atlanta, Georgia, after graduating from Morehouse College with a concentration in business management (2001-2005). In 2005, I joined Teach For America (TFA) in Metro Atlanta, marking the beginning of my educational journey. My path then led me to Guyana, South America, where I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer at Cyril Potter College of Education from 2008 to 2010. This experience was particularly transformative as I was accompanied by my wonderful wife, Shaniece.
Upon returning to the U.S. in 2010, I pursued a master’s degree in Elementary Education at Boston College. During my time in Boston, I was a founding teacher at Roger Clap Innovation School, a Boston Public School, and also worked as a resident tutor at Harvard College (Lowell House).
In July 2016, my family and I relocated from Boston to Greenville, South Carolina. I was honored to be named Teacher of the Year at A.J. Whittenberg for the 2020-2021 academic year and completed an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree at Furman University in May 2021. After six years of teaching fourth grade at A.J., I am now in my fourth year as the Program Director for the 2025-2026 school year.
As a program director at A.J. Whittenberg, I am committed to enhancing the educational experience on a larger scale. My transition from directly impacting students in the classroom to shaping the entire school environment reflects my dedication to motivating students, achieving successful outcomes, and collaborating with all stakeholders. My growth mindset propels me to continually serve and reflect on my practice, ensuring that our children and community receive the excellence and dedication they deserve.
