About me

Mr. Thornton is a graduate of the University of South Carolina where he studied Music Education and Music Performance. Mr. Thornton is a native of South Carolina and attended Boiling Springs High School in Spartanburg, SC. This will be Mr. Thornton's 3rd year at Travelers Rest High School. During his first year he helped the band receive many awards such as a Superior with Distinction at Concert Festival, a 30 year high finish at the State Marching Band Competition and helped Over 20 students make it into the Region and All-State Bands. Mr. Thornton was named First Year Teacher of the Year for Greenville County and a finialst for Emerging teacher of the year for the 2022-23 School year. He hopes to continue pushing all of his students to the greatest version of themselves in the 2023-2024 School year.
