Hello, my name is Alicia Cely and I am one of eight first grade teachers at Lake Forest.  I have been teaching first grade for twenty-two years.  I enjoy the enthusiasm and interest that young children bring to the classroom each day and I am looking forward to teaching your first grader this year.   I expect to have a fun and rewarding year with your child!

I received my Bachelor of Art degree in Education from the University of South Carolina Upstate.  My certification for teaching is in the area of Early Childhood Education.  While teaching first grade at Thomas E. Kerns Elementary School I had the honor of being named Reading Teacher of the Year.  I was also able to represent them at the district level as the 2006-2007 Teacher of the Year.

My family includes my wonderful husband of 42 years, our son and his wife, our daughter and her husband, and our three beautiful grandsons.  We also have a golden retriever named Shelby, and a feisty cat named Whiskers.  In my spare time, I enjoy spending as much time as possible with the little grandsons   I also enjoy watching, feeding and listening to birds in my backyard.
