Hello, I am Mr. Ivey and I am excited to teach your children in the 7th grade blue team this year in the content of Geography! My background includes teaching fulltime college history and sociology courses and social sciences department head on the college level, teaching high school and middle school social studies. I also still teach part time history courses on the four year college level. I have my BA in History, Master of Arts in Teaching Social Studies, 30 plus hours from the following three contents, graduate history, political science, and sociology courses., and I have an Education Specialist degree in School Administration Principalship.
My hobbies include fishing and baseball with my two sons, riding four wheelers, rodeos, traveling, anything outdoors really and always having a great time.

Key Ideas
Central America and the Caribbean Islands have experienced significant contemporary cultural, economic, and political issues. We will examine an issue facing this region by generating geographic questions, gathering appropriate sources of information, analyzing information, forming conclusions, and communicating your findings to others.
The purpose of these activities are for you to evaluate the quality of life for people living in Cuba.
Life in Cuba Major Project is due Oct 6, 2023
Test on Central America and the Caribbean will be on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. We will review this in class and you have a review in your classroom.
October 16, 2023, we will start South America.
Standard 6: Analyze the cultural, economic, environmental, physical, political, and population geographies of contemporary South America.
7.6.1.PR Identify select South American physical systems (e.g. landforms and bodies of water) and human characteristics of places (e.g., countries and cities).
7.6.2.ER Identify climate and vegetation regions and the spatial distributions and patterns of natural resources, including the impact of their location on human activities.
7.6.3.HS Explain South America’s current human population distributions and patterns, and use geographic models to compare the conditions driving migration and demographic change.
7.6.4.HS Compare and contrast the dynamic physical and human conditions that lead to the creation of ethnic, gender, language, and religious landscapes of South American societies.
7.6.5.HS Identify and analyze the current political borders using maps, explain the economic, political, and social inequalities present in South American societies, and explain the connections between South American places and other continents.
7.6.6.AG Gather evidence and construct a map or model to investigate a significant contemporary cultural, economic, or political issue facing South America at the local, regional, or global scale.
