My name is Debbie Lombel and I will be one of your child’s 6th Grade ELA teacher for the 2024-2025 school year. I am so excited to have the opportunity to work with our 6th graders and our ELA team this year at RGS. As a team, we look forward to watching all our 6th graders grow and reach their ELA goals!
This is my 16th year teaching after earning my degree in education from the University of Maryland. Maryland is where my wonderful husband of twenty-five years and I grew up and lived until 2006. It was then that our family relocated for my husband's career, and we started this wonderful venture in South Carolina. We have loved every minute living here and raising our three children: Drew (21), John (21) and Kate (18). My twins continue to be successful both in the classroom and on the field at USC and Lincoln Memorial University respectively. Both are studying business and playing lacrosse. I look forward to seeing what this final year of college brings for them. My daughter, Kate, will join her brother at USC as a freshman this fall. She plans on studying criminal justice and trying out for the club lacrosse team. In my free time, I enjoy family time (when everyone is home), traveling (especially to the beach), reading, watching sports (especially those that my kids play), and returning to Maryland to visit family and friends.
This summer my daughter and I had the incredible opportunity to visit Italy, Greece, Croatia and Montenegro. The beauty and cultures of these wonderful countries was inspiring.
I absolutely love teaching and love my students even more! It has always been my goal to instill the importance of treating everyone with kindness, respecting others and generating a love of reading. I cannot wait to begin this 6th grade journey with you and your child. Please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns. I look forward to a fantastic year!
