Rules for Student Behavior
Code of Conduct
· I am responsible for myself, my actions, and my choices.
· I always come prepared to learn.
· I will respect everyone in our school with my speech and actions.
· I will follow directions polity the first time they are given.
· I will keep my hands, feet, and all objects to myself.
Consequences for Violating Rules
If one of our rules is broken, students will receive one verbal warning. If the student continues to break the rules, he/she will miss recess time. Depending on the severity and consistency of behavior the time will vary. Following the time sat out students will have a conversation with the teacher about what behavior caused them to sit out and what the behavior should look like
Procedures for Non-Instructional Routines
Restroom Rules: Students are free to use the restroom at any time.
Walking in the hall:
Students will walk quietly on the right side of the hall with their hands by their side and marshmallow toes. Students will be reminded not to touch or lean on the walls.
Housekeeping:
Students are responsible for keeping their supplies neat and organized. They are to keep their belongings in their cubbies, drawers, and community supplies organized and readily available.
Water Fountain: Students can get water or bring their own water bottle.
Emergency Procedures:
Students will follow procedures for fire, tornado, and earthquake drills implemented by Greenville County School District. There is an emergency bag that is carried throughout the day with the students. During any emergency drill, students are instructed to remain calm and quiet so that announcements by administration can be heard.
Presentation of Rules and Procedures
Rules and procedures were communicated to students the first day of school and reinforced everyday thereafter. Incidents within the classroom are communicated to parents in a timely manner.
Communication with Parents
Updates will be communicated through class dojo. Notices about upcoming meetings will be done through a letter home and a phone call home to notify about the date and time meeting will be held.

Each student has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP), which delineates the specifics of academic and nonacademic instruction. Nonacademic instruction provides self-help strategies for attention and behavior issues as well as social, organizational and study skills. At any time during the year, with the parent’s approval and knowledge, the IEP team and parent can meet to discuss concerns or changes needed to improve the student’s IEP. Each year, an annual IEP will be written indicating areas of progress, strengths, and needs.
Learning and Developmental Goals
The purpose of a resource classroom is to provide specialized, small group instruction for some students who require intensive support to reach their IEP goals in reading, math, and writing, as well as nonacademic instruction. Learning and instructional goals are specified in the Individual Education Plan. The IEP contains goals for areas of concern including reading comprehension, basic reading skills, oral and written language, mathematics and listening and behavior.
Units of Instruction
Our special education inclusion/resource teachers will support the K5 - 5th grades’ general education instructional units. Please see the individual student’s K5-5th grade general education homeroom teacher’s website for detailed long range plans. For students receiving resource based special education services, we will also utilize research based direct instruction programs in writing, math and reading. State grade level standards for all learning areas are available upon request or you may visit the Department of Education’s website at http://ed.sc.gov
