CONCERT GUIDELINES & NOTES FROM STAFF
Backstage & Dressing Area
Participants have a volunteer parent supervisor with them at all times. Parents will escort their child to the balcony to meet this supervisor at the “Call Time,” or arrival time of technical rehearsals and performances. Students arrive in their 1st costume with hair and make up performance-ready for dress rehearsals at GPA. They should also arrive for technical run throughs at Carolina Theatre with hair and make up “performance ready.” We will not attempt costume changes until the performances, later each day.
Participants may watch the concert from the balcony, only in the assigned seating area with their group and parent supervisor. Students may not watch the performance back stage from the side, in the wing space or with their parents, even if they are finished performing.
Participants, staff, technical support crew and class parent supervisors are the only people allowed backstage. Check-in only at the Balcony area only. Company members check in at the stage door. Please greet and congratulate your performer after the concert in the theatre lobby. Dressing room assignments for students with more than three dances and/or costume changes will be provided at the Dress Rehearsal on Wednesday and Thursday.
Please keep backstage and dressing room areas NUT FREE. Help us protect our students who have allergies.
Quiet please! We expect mature, thoughtful behavior from all participants.
Inside Auditorium
Videotaping is allowed only at rehearsal from your seat. Copyright law prohibits video to be placed on any social media. Please protect our studio and teachers.
Turn off your cell phones during dress rehearsal and performances.
No flash photography, as it is dangerous for our performers!
There should be no reason to leave seats during the performances; however, if absolutely necessary, please enter and exit ONLY between dances, and during a blackout. Performers will stay with parent supervisors until the end of the performance.
We ask that audience members and participants refrain from calling out names at the beginning of a dance. This is an artistic event, and we strive to teach our performers the appropriate way to enjoy a live performance.
Carolina Theatre is a smoke-free facility.
Food and drinks are not allowed in the auditorium.
