There is NO MILITARY OBLIGATION when you join AFJROTC! The program objectives are to offer hands-on citizenship, leadership & life skills lessons and opportunities. AFJROTC promotes community service, and instills responsibility, character, and self discipline.
Green High School's AFJROTC motto is Student First; Cadet Always! We prioritize students' academic efforts, while encouraging Cadets to embrace the Air Force Core Values of: Integrity First, Service Before Self & Excellence in All We Do!
Our Air Force JROTC mission is simply to develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community.
*Two years of JROTC waives high school physical education requirement, and serves as an Elective class, as well
*Being a part of JROTC can "knock out" the 2 required Seals needed for graduation. Seals you can earn in JROTC: Military, Student Involvement, Community Service, Job Readiness
*For students considering the military, we offer an obligation-free environment to determine if they want to serve after high school
*Three successful years in JROTC gives automatic rank-up for students who choose to enlist after high school (higher rank = higher paychecks)
*Successful JROTC completion gives advantages to students seeking military scholarships/academy appointments
**YES, STUDENTS FROM OTHER SCHOOLS ARE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE GREEN HS JROTC PROGRAM!**
Air Force JROTC is not a military recruiting program and there is no military service obligation for taking it. This citizenship and leadership-focused curriculum offers something for every student.
The JROTC program is packed with lessons and experiences intended to identify and develop students’ maximum potential. JROTC offers a compelling and action-oriented curriculum in health & wellness, fitness, military customs & courtesies, drill & ceremony, discipline & self control, character & leadership development, uniform wear & attention to detail, organizational skills, military history & traditions, goal setting & success strategies. JROTC students and parents say it’s the best class their student took in high school!
The AFJROTC program doesn’t stop when students leave the classroom. While not mandatory, students are encouraged to become active in the program’s OPTIONAL after-school Drill Team, Color Guard, Kitty Hawk Society (Tutoring/Academic Club), Raiders Fitness Team, JLAB (nationwide JROTC Academic Challenge Team), Community Service activities, Leadership Team (Senior Staff), Recruiting Team, Summer Leadership Camps, Military Balls, etc.
JROTC not only improves students’ discipline, self control, organizational skills, goal setting and attention to detail, students become a part of a high-quality peer group focused on their leadership development and becoming citizens of high moral character.
ROTC Cadets gain instant best friends with whom they spend extensive time at Drill Team practices & competitions, Raider Fitness Training & Competitions, Community Service Events, Color Guard, Leadership Team, Recruiting Team, Summer Leadership Camp - Camp Reliance, Cadet Socials, etc.
ROTC cadets are students who are committed to high standards of conduct, and are focused on their futures! Cadets all say they "have each others' backs". It's not just a class ... it's a family!
A big part of the ROTC experience is Community Service. From cleaning gutters for elderly citizens and helping with community food drives, to providing Color Guard for community events and cleaning the Veteran's Memorial Courtyard, Cadets learn that giving back to their community is not only gratifying, but teaches a sense of civic responsibility. Cadet pride soars when they complete a community service project and they beam seeing the gratitude from those they served.
Cadets in the program love working together to lighten the load of others, and gain tremendous confidence knowing they've made a difference!
“It’s easy to make a buck. It’s a lot tougher to make a difference. ” – Tom Brokaw
If you're in grades 9-12 at Green High School OR ANY NEIGHBORING SCHOOL, willing to meet our personal grooming standards, and proudly wear the uniform (only 1 day per week), then, YES, you can join our program! First-year Cadets have the option of wearing an alternate polo "uniform" instead of an Air Force uniform!
