Year 3
Year 3
Leadership Team: TBD
REMINDER: Each Scholar in your class should be presenting at a low-income school individually or as a group. In fulfilling the Presentation at a Low-Income School requirement, please update this sheet with your presentation information so we can stay updated and assist you in the process. Use this guide as a resource for completing this program requirement.
Year 3—Symposium | Sell Your Initiative
Your class has now spent two years digging into this problem, designing your initiative, and implementing your solution. You are now the subject matter experts as it pertains to your Community Impact Initiative. This is an opportunity for you to truly give your initiative justice and sell it to Greenhouse Scholars and our community. Whether it’s a sales pitch, a video, or some other event, the class should aim to inspire incoming freshman, impress our community, and show the world a new solution to a big problem.
New Leadership Team is elected (1 yearlong term). Two new members, one from year prior.
Class leaves Symposium with concrete ideas on their project, next steps, responsibilities, and timelines.
Year 3—Semester 1 | Measurement and Evaluation
In this phase you will establish baselines or performance measures. You will measure project progression and performance to ensure that everything happening aligns with the project management plan. You will use key performance indicators to determine if the project is on track.
Identify a partnership with a business/organization who does measurement and evaluation work. Someone who can help create a measurement plan and identify quantifiable metrics for measuring the success, needs, and areas of improvement of you initiative.
Identify measurement tools (some included below on this page) which will aid your evaluation of your initiative.
Year 3—Winter Break Meeting | Performance Assessment and Update
This is a virtual event, entire class attendance mandatory. Leadership team schedules and manages the meeting for all attendees.
Leadership team presents to entire class, staff advisor, community advisor, and applicable community members about the performance of the initiative, barriers to success, learned lessons, and next steps.
Staff and community members in attendance give feedback for moving the project towards World class status.
Opportunity for community members to help Scholar class ‘shop around’ their initiative. Community members should be encouraged to think about who needs to know about this project, who might want it, who might it benefit within their networks?
Year 3—Semester 2 | Advance to World Class
Use this semester to leverage all the resources at your disposal to move your Community Impact Initiative to World Class status. This means:
Incorporate all staff and community feedback
Use your Key Performance Indicators and other performance indicators to make improvements
Work openly with your school partner to better meet their needs
Put a high polish on all internal and external documents.
Leadership team and class should be prepared to present on their Community Impact Initiative at Year Four Summer Symposium.
Think of this as an opportunity to encapsulate this entire experience. Be proud of what you've accomplished and transparent about your failures. Share with us your journey completing your Community Impact Initiative and allow us to celebrate your hard work.
Track your progress by updating milestones and tasks that you are working on or have completed already!
Add documents, presentations, and any other sort of contribution towards the project!

Performance Metrics
At this point, you should be well established in your project and implemented some form of a performance evaluation tool. Check out this article for ideas on what you should be tracking in your project performance. Also use this google doc to determine what variables you are tracking in your metric.
