How do I know if my child is Gifted and should receive services?

-----------------------------Gifted Services do not equal an Enrichment Program.

Students working above grade-level should receive Enrichment opportunities during RTI time by their general education teachers.

How does a child qualify as Gifted?

A student must qualify through academics, creativity, and through an IQ test. To receive services, though, the student must have something impeding him/her from being successful on grade-level skills in the general classroom. This can look like: anxiety, perfectionism, apathy, procrastination, not handling perceived failures appropriately, social or emotional differences, sensory sensitivity, etc. Check out the checklist HERE

Does your child have many of these traits?

“Intellectually Gifted” means a child whose intellectual abilities, creativity, and potential for achievement are so outstanding that the child's needs exceed differentiated general education programming, adversely affects educational performance, and requires specifically designed instruction or support services.
