Career & College Promise (CCP) is North Carolina’s dual enrollment program for high school students. This program allows eligible NC high school students to enroll in college classes at North Carolina community colleges and universities through their high school. Students who successfully complete college courses earn college credit they can take with them after graduation.
Career & College Promise offers students the option to choose from these pathways:
College Transfer - Designed for students planning to continue their educational career beyond high school to eventually achieve an Associate's or Bachelor's degree at a community college or university.
Career & Technical Education - Allows students to begin a certification or diploma program in a particular technical field or career area.
Cooperative Innovative High Schools - North Carolina's early colleges and other innovative schools are small public high schools, usually located on the campus of a university or community college, where students simultaneously work toward completion of both the high school diploma and an associate's degree, transferrable credit or certificate.

9th and 10th Grade Participants
Students in grades 9 and 10 may participate in a limited number of CCP Career and Technical Education pathways. To be eligible, a student in grades 9 or 10 must:
Be enrolled in at least one high school course;
Have passed Math I with a grade of "C" or better and scored a 3, 4, or 5 on the Math I EOC;
Have scored level 3 or higher on the 8th grade ELA EOG;
Have a weighted GPA of 3.0 on high school courses (10th grade only);
Obtain a written recommendation from the high school principal.
Textbooks and fees
As of now, Greene County Schools will provide CCP textbooks for GCS students taking CCP courses through Lenoir Community College in the fall and spring semesters. The following conditions apply:
1. If a student withdraws from a CCP course, the student will be responsible for reimbursing the district the cost of the textbook.
2. Students will be responsible for purchasing textbooks for CCP courses taken during the summer.
3. Lenoir Community College is the service provider for Greene County Schools and currently waives registration fees for CCP courses. If a student enrolls in a CCP course at another community college, the student is responsible for associated fees and textbooks.
Even though students take CCP courses while attending high school, CCP courses are part of the student's permanent college transcript as well as the student's high school transcript. Some CCP courses count as dual enrollment courses and may be taken in place of high school courses required for high school graduation.
Career & College Promise offers North Carolina high students options to pursue educational and career goals of their choice using a rigorous yet supportive structure designed to help them become successful.
Dual enrollment college courses have the same quality point weight as AP and IB courses. See N.C. State Board of Education Policy GCS-L-004 (Section 3.1.4) The state weighting system adds the equivalent of one (1) quality point to the grade earned in community college courses included on the most recent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement Transfer List, and for courses taught at four-year universities and colleges. Students will receive one extra quality point for Community College courses approved by the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement (CAA)*. Independent college and UNC system courses will also earn one extra quality point. Official AP and IB courses will earn one extra quality point. N.C. Currently enrolled North Carolina high school students who meet the eligibility criteria for their chosen pathway can participate in CCP College Transfer and CTE pathways, including home school students and private school students. Students who have already graduated from high school are not eligible.
