WHO WE ARE!
We were founded in October of 1997.
We take children ages 6-18.
We are a 501(c)3, who rely on federal funding and generous donations from people like YOU!
We have 3 clubs in the Mayes County Area (Pryor, Chouteau, and Locust Grove).
Led by paid and trained Youth Development Professionals.
We focus on academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character and citizenship.
We provide a clean, safe, fun place for kids to go after school and during the summer.
We offer dinner and a snack at all sites during the school year. During the summer we offer breakfast, lunch and snack.
Character and Leadership Programs
Helping youth become responsible, caring citizens and acquire skills for participating in the democratic process is the main thrust of these programs. They also develop leadership skills and provide opportunities for planning, decision-making and contributing to club wide successes.
These initiatives develop young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
These Club programs help develop fitness, a positive use of leisure time, reduction of stress, appreciation for the environment and social and interpersonal skills.
These initiatives focus on meeting the specific needs identified within Boys & Girls Clubs. Their broad scope complements several or all of our core program areas.
Programs in this core area enable youth to develop their creativity and cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing.
Education & Career Development
These programs help youth identify aspirations for the future, providing opportunities for career exploration and educational enhancement.
BGCA has implemented the programing strategy Every Member, Every Year, designed so that all Clubs, no matter their size or resources, can partner with youth, parents, schools and other community stakeholders to implement at least one of three approaches: academic enrichment and school engagement; targeted dropout prevention; and intensive intervention and case management. Our aim is to ensure that all Club members graduate from high school on time, ready for a post-secondary education and a 21st-century career.
