Social and Emotional Learning at GCSD

Starting with the 2022-2023 academic year, The Greenburgh Central School District has committed to embedding Social and Emotional Learning districtwide. We are focused and dedicated to the social, emotional, and educational growth of all GCSD students, teachers, staff, and families. Our priority is to support GCSD in the development of the skills, attitudes, and values necessary to engage in continuous self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Our committee’s goal is to ensure that SEL practices are integrated into student learning opportunities throughout each school day to support the mental health and well-being of our students and staff. As we know, there are currently numerous SEL initiatives in place throughout the district. Our initial focus will consist of developing our own Greenburgh CSD Social and Emotional Learning Standards, which will provide a framework to ensure all districtwide SEL offerings allow students varied opportunities to develop their emotional intelligence.
