I am a 2001 graduate of Green Co. High School. I became interested in industrial machinery while taking Mr. Porter's Machine Tool class my senior year. After graduation I attended college at what is now SKYCTC in Bowling Green. In pursuing a career as an Industrial Maintenance Technician, I took a 2 yr diploma course in Automated Systems. Upon completion, I entered the workforce as a technician. I've spent 14 + years in the industry working to obtain knowledge and skills that would set me apart from other employees. Two of those years were spent as a maintenance supervisor at a plant in Elizabethtown. I always found myself talking with the machine operators and explaining why their machine stopped working, and what could be done to prevent it next time. I've always loved this career because I got to do something different every day. I may start a day fabricating a part for a machine, and finish the day troubleshooting a complex electrical problem on an advance manufacturing machine. Over the years, I've noticed a drastic change in the lack of work ethic from many employees entering the workforce. Being from Green County, I wanted to help our youth from Green, Taylor, and Campbellsville learn a skill that they could be proud of. Thankfully, the door was opened for me to have that opportunity here at the ATC. I'm currently in my 9th year teaching. I also have my KY Master's Electrical and Electrical Contractor's Licenses.
First and foremost, I am a Christian. I will not push my beliefs on anyone, but that is what guides my decisions in life. I try my best to treat everyone the same regardless of their race, status, beliefs, and even their last name. I was an average student raised in a low income family, so I know what many of these students face. My goal is for them to know that even though they may feel alone in this world, I care about them.
I married my wife, Meranda Parrish, back in 2003. She is a graduate of Larue Co. High School and is the owner/operator of Cutting Edge Salon and Spa on Hwy. 88 in Green Co. We have 3 wonderful daughters; Kaleyann age 19, Addelynn age 16, and Kinleigh age 8. We all enjoy singing, hunting, fishing, and camping. I really enjoy southern gospel music and play piano, guitar, and bass guitar. As a family we are blessed. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work in the same school system in which my children attend.
I welcome students, parents, community members, and industries to check us out here at the ATC. Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. We want our students to feel like they have a purpose and one great way of achieving that is to learn a skill.
