AVID

At Monfort, we are teaching students the AVID way. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. In 3rd grade, we translate this to mean “moving toward a goal through your own hard work.” As a part of AVID we utilize the WICOR model, focusing on Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization and Reading. Each day, we aim to focus on these elements in every subject area.

Each student will be provided with a planner, color coded folders and notebooks to keep their materials organized. We will keep materials in a binder along with a pencil pouch.

Our mission, by using AVID, is to prepare students for success in school and beyond.
