Our Mission: To provide resources that enhance the professional growth of our learning community—with a special emphasis on those providing direct instruction. Because outstanding student achievement depends on an innovative teaching staff, we are here to empower your classroom practices.

Our Network: Supported by the NYS Teacher Resource and Computer Training Centers and governed by a collaborative, community-based Policy Board, we share regional resources to meet your specific district and individual needs.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Center is to provide opportunities and resources that will enhance the professional growth of those within the broad learning community, which an emphasis on professional learning and services to those providing direct instruction to students.

PLC Guiding Principles

Our professional learning program will build skills and capacities for improvement through comprehensive and ongoing professional learning activities which focus on the schools’ and District’s goals for improvement. Sound and practical professional learning programs are a link to establishing good instructional practices that enhance the knowledge of curriculum content and design.
Professional Learning will:
- be grounded in knowledge and research about teaching and learning;
- provide choice opportunities to explore, question, and debate in order to integrate new ideas into classroom practice;
- provide a common language around best educational practices for collegial dialogue within and across disciplines;
- be accessible and inclusive to all staff and be seen as an integral part of daily practice;
- stimulate and support site-based initiatives;
- provide for sufficient time and follow-up support for staff to master new content and strategies;
- draw on the expertise of staff and take into account the differing degrees of experience present in school settings;
- ensure participation to remain current in the field;
- increase the likelihood that the learning needs of students are met;
- align with the District Strategic Plan and New York State Standards and assessments;
- be job embedded, continuous, and sustained;
- be provided for each stage of the educator's career and at the appropriate levels: awareness, basic, advanced, and follow-up

What are new york state teacher centers?

New York State Resource and Computer Training Centers are the largest professional learning communities in New York State with more than 123 (as of 2025-26) Teachers Centers located throughout the state, working with 675 public schools districts and nearly 1000 non-public and charter schools.

Teacher Centers are:

•operated locally, with regional and statewide network support.

•governed by policy boards composed of 51% teachers as well as representation from administrators, school board members, parents, higher education and business professionals.

•driven by local educator needs, including implementation support for NYS and federal education initiatives.

•dedicated to high quality, job-embedded and student-focused professional learning experiences

•In 1984, thanks to the lobbying efforts of NYSUT, Teacher Resource and Computer Training Centers were established and funded by the New York State Legislature under Education Law 316 they are governed by Ed Law 316 and the following standards:
