Early College High School

PROVIDING PREPARATION AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR POST-SECONDARY SUCCESS

Early College (ECHS) is a partnership with area colleges that provides high school students the opportunity to earn college credits while simultaneously taking high school courses.

This program targets students who are traditionally underrepresented in colleges.

Students must meet eligibility requirements in order to qualify.

What is the goal of Early College at Olympia?

  • Increase access to college

  • Decrease financial burden on families

  • Decrease remedial courses in college

  • Earn up to 60 college credits in high school

  • Graduate Olympia with an Associates Degree from MCC

  • Transfer into a four-year program

  • Complete your Bachelor’s Degree in two years after high school

What types of courses will students take?

Over the course of 4 years in high school ECHS scholars will take a variety of high school and college courses including:

  • NYS Required high school courses

  • Dual-credit courses at Olympia

  • Online college courses

  • Summer college courses

  • College courses at MCC & Brockport

How is the Early College Program related to AVID?

AVID is a system of preparing students for college and other postsecondary opportunities.

ECHS is an opportunity for students to use their AVID preparation and supports to help them accrue up to 60 college credits while still in high school.

Priority for the ECHS program is given to students who are traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education or who participate in AVID.
