This 30 minute lesson is anchored in the text "My Day is Ruined". This book introduces a student who is upset by things that are outside of his control. The student learns 4 steps to manage his emotions in difficult situations. Students will identify strategies of how to manage emotions and move on when things are out of your control.

Students will discuss and see examples of people living in colonial times not having quick access many items we have today.. Students will discuss things they have to wait for in their own life and will experience having to wait as the class shakes cream turning it into butter.
This lesson is appropriate for use any day after you have begun the colonial towns and people domain. You will need access to a screen and speaker as there are videos embedded within the lesson. You will also need heavy cream and a container with a screw on top for butter making.
