About the Library
The Brookside library prides itself on providing state-of-the-art technology, including a SMART Board, 30 iPads, ten computers, ebooks and other e-resources, subscription databases for research, as well as access to laptop computers for various projects. Students have library class for 55 minutes once every 4-day cycle. Each session involves a library skills lesson or story and book selection time. The library is always open for the students and staff when school is in session and students are always welcome to visit the library at the end of the day to return and checkout new books.
CIRCULATION:
Students in grades 1-5 may check out two books at a time. Students in kindergarten may check out one book at a time. Students can keep their library books for two weeks and may renew their books as needed. Notices for overdue materials are sent to sent to students bi-weekly and home monthly. Bills for overdue/lost materials will be mailed periodically throughout the school year.
Brookside Elementary School's Library is our school's physical and virtual learning space. We promote inquiry, thinking, imagination, discovery, and creativity for students' information-to-learning journey and support their personal, social, and cultural growth. We are committed to enabling students to make effective use of the world's knowledge through accessing and analyzing information.
