Issue 10 14th November 2025
Dear Parents/Carers,
This week has been a busy week as we marked Anti-Bullying Week, took part in our annual act of Remembrance and also today took part in World Diabetes Day. This week enabled us to think about and be respectful of everyone's differences, challenges, achievements and contributions. At the heart of all of these important events enabled us to think deeply and have plenty of opportunties to live out our three be's this week. If you are new to our school, our 3Be's help guide us all to live out our mission statement 'Treat others exactly as you would like to be treated' Luke 6:31
Our 3B's are:
Be kind and empathetic
Be observant and thoughtful
Be flexible and reflective
I enjoyed visiting every classroom this week and seeing the children engaged and working hard in lessons. The behaviours for learning observed were excellent and it is clear how settled and engaged the children are at our school. I have continued to show prospective parents around the school looking for a Reception place in September 2026 and the calmness around the school is often mentioned by visitors.
A polite note from the office: please only book wrap around sessions your child plans to attend. We have had an increase in late bookings and cancellations and whilst we appreciate occasional cancellations and last minute bookings are sometimes necessary, please where possible, ensure as much notice is given for cancellations. As you will be aware, parents can book their child on to wrap around sessions via Arbor up to 24 hours before hand.
Have a good weekend.
With best wishes,
Mr M. Beach
Headteacher

Thank you for your support and understanding.
The Health and Safety of all of our community is of paramount importance. Thank you to everyone who is able to park at the Garden Centre at drop off and pick up to reduce congestion on Church Meadow. However, if you do need to park on Church Meadow, please ensure you are driving slowly and it is really important that cars do not come onto the curb or pavement as this could be very dangerous and there have been a few reports of some near misses which is very concerning. This is something that I will be monitoring closely and thank you for your support in ensuring our local community is a safe place for all of our families.
Heavenly Father,
We gather as a school today to remember those who stood up and who fought for freedom, for love and for peace. Please help us to be thankfuL for those who gave their lives but also the workers doctors and engineers who kept the soldiers going when it felt impossible.
We ask you to bless all of those who help the soldiers and their families by raising money to help them have joyful lives. Thank you for the fact we do not have to live in fear or be scared and hide but sing, play and have fun as a free country. Please help us to remember the poppy as it is a sign of bravery and sacrifice for our special country as it was the only flower and bit of hope to sprout on the devastation in the land. Amen
Jess (Year 6)
Dear God,
We pray for the other countries where children live in fear. We pray for courageous people who sacrificed their lives for us and those in war and fighting. Please help us to be kind to each other and have peace between us. Help those who are less fortunate and those who have to move to a different place. We ask you to pray for the brave soldiers who protected us. Let us always remember them. Thank you soldiers. Amen
Theo (Year 5)
Dear God,
Thank you for all the courage shown by men, women and children in wartime. We pray the you help everyone to live peacefully together, in this country and around the world.
Amen
Alys (Year 4)
Dear God,
We pray for peace in our world and an end to war. Instead of hatred, let there be love. Shelter your children and protect us.
Guide us and keep us from harm.
Amen
Carter (Year 3)
I will remember the people who didn't come home.
I will remember the soldiers who were wounded.
I will remember the people who lost their lives.
I will never forget the poppy.
Sophie (Year 2)
I will remember the brave ones who went into war.
I will remember the soldiers who gave up their lives.
I will remember the ones who didn't come home.
I will never forget the ones who died and the ones who survived.
Benji (Year 1)
Year 5 and 6 had a ‘Remembrance’ theme for their Forest School this week. Mrs D began the lesson by giving each child the name of one of the soldiers listed on the Great Gaddesden war memorial. The children then had the opportunity to paint a pebble in memory of their soldier. We also made poppies using twigs and wool in different colours to represent the people and animals who were injured or lost their lives in war.

From the FOGGS Team
Today, the children wore blue for World Diabetes Day.
Did you know that 4.3 million people are living with a diagnosis of diabetes in the UK?
Are you worried that you, your child or someone you know may have diabetes? Having some diabetes symptoms doesn’t mean you definitely have the condition, but you should always contact your GP, just to make sure.
Toilet - going to the toilet a lot, especially at night.
Thirsty - being really thirsty.
Tired - feeling more tired than usual.
Thinner - losing weight without trying to.
Cuts and wounds take longer to heal.
Blurred eyesight
Increased hunger.
These symptoms can affect anyone - adult or child. But some are more commonly experienced by people with type 1 diabetes, and can come on really quickly.
We call these the 4Ts - find out more about the symptoms of type 1 diabetes.
You may experience other diabetes symptoms and the symptoms you have may not exactly match that of another person and may not be on the list above. However, the most common symptoms experienced by many people with diabetes are increased thirst, going for a wee a lot, feeling tired and losing weight.

Rotary Shoebox Appeal
It is that time of year, when the Rotary Shoebox Appeal is launched.
This appeal collects presents to bring a bit of happiness to seriously deprived children in orphanages in Romania and Moldova.
Late November: Rotary drop off empty shoe boxes at schools.
End of Term: Rotary collects shoeboxes from schools, which are then sent onto Romania and Moldova.
If you would like to take part, please let the school office know and we will pass on a shoe box for you at the end of November/Early December.
