Issue 3 19th September 2025
This week we had our Parent General Information/Welcome Meetings. I hope you found these useful and informative particularly the improvements we have made based on your feedback regarding how we share what your child will be learning for the upcoming term.
On Wednesday, our first Forest School afternoon took place with Year 1&2. Whilst Mrs De led Forest School for the afternoon, I enjoyed spending the afternoon teaching Year 3&4 who impressed me with their RE knowledge and thoughtful reflections.
Next Friday, we have our Macmillan Coffee Morning. This will take place in the main hall after drop off until 10am. We warmly welcome cake and sweet treat donations which can be sent in with your child on Thursday or via the school office. Our Year 6 children will be serving the refreshments so please do come along for a slice of cake, a warm drink and a chance to connect with other parents and friends of the school.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,
Mr M. Beach
Headteacher

Every day counts! All classes begin learning activities as soon as the children arrive at 8:40am.
All absences must be reported to the school either by leaving an absence message (Option 1) or emailing Mrs Redman (Pastoral Support/Attendance Lead) via absence@greatgaddesden.herts.sch.uk
Please note: in line with the statutory guidance from the Department for Education which is reflected in our attendance policy, we are unable to authorise term time holiday.

Thank you for your support and understanding.
This week, we focused on our value of the month 'responsibility'. We listened to the 'Parable of the Two Sons' and thought about the importance of reflecting, realising our responsibilities and following them through and sticking to our promises.
Our Big Question of the week has been 'What will you be responsible for this year?'
As you can see below, we had some really thoughtful responses.
Early Years- Louis
Year 1&2 - Ozzy
Year 3&4 - Grace
Year 5&6 - Harley
EYFS- Willow
Year 1&2 - Charlotte
Year 3&4 - Elijah
Year 5&6 - Jess
This week, Jess was nominated as our Mission Ambassador for:
Always being kind, caring, observant and thoughtful towards all of her peers. Jess always looks out for others and will include everyone in her games at playtime.
"Treat others exactly as you would like to be treated" Luke 6:31
Be observant and thoughtful
Be kind and empathetic
Be flexible and reflective
Pippa - for writing a very thoughtful paragraph making connections between different religions in RE.
Kauan- for creating a very detailed picture map in Geography.
Joey- for being awarded a trophy and medal for 'fair play' during a football camp he attended in the summer.
On Thursday, Year 1 and 2 visited the woods. We looked for signs of Autumn on our walk up there and found mushrooms, berries, acorns, leaves changing colour and even a squirrel hiding some nuts! Whilst in the woods we played a game of ‘1, 2, 3 in’ which is a combination of ‘It’ and ‘Hide and Seek’ and then we built some dens and hammocks amongst the trees.
Early Years are politely asking for the following donations:
Wicker baskets
Bike helmets
Thank you for your help!
Nursery
We offer both 15 hours and 30 hours provision. For families entitled to 15 hours, we offer the option to top up hours to 30 hours. If your child or if you know of anyone looking for Nursery provision, please do not hesitate to let them know.
Please note- places are offered to children the term after they turn three as per the guidance below:
