Recently, students may have noticed some workers up on ladders, installing cameras all around the building. This is because the school has received a grant to update most of the older cameras to fit more modern times.
While it may seem like you’re always on camera now, there’s been about 27 cameras in total around the school for a long time. All that happened was the old ones were replaced with better versions of the same thing, even in the same positions.
The cameras monitor most areas around the building, excluding classrooms. Principal McLemore says the footage from these cameras is “only looked at after someone makes a behavioral report.” A behavioral report would be something like if someone were to report a fight or an act of vandalism and they need to determine who is at fault.
While this is not a very common problem, it’s important to know what happens when it occurs. “There is no general amount of behavioral reports: depends on the day, week,” Ms. McLemore said.
The updated cameras ensure the continued security at our school.
