With help from some of the parents, the seniors put together a 3v3 basketball tournament for all ages to help earn money for their class trip at the end of the year.
With 10 adult and 3 youth teams, it is easy to say it was a success. Each entry was $10.00 per participant and $5.00 to watch. $992 was made for the senior trip.
Isaac Parker, a senior, worked at the 3v3 tournament in several ways. “I ran all of the scoreboards, made sure the scores were right, made sure people had their waivers, made sure everyone was in the right place, and I also announced games.”
The fundraiser was fun, but there was a lot of work put in for it to happen. This includes multiple class meetings and advertising. Class organizers say it was a great experience and that they had a good time.
In between the games, the concession stand helped earn even more money aside from the admission and visitor fees. At the concession stand, there were hotdogs, cotton candy, popcorn, baked goods, and drinks. There was also a 50/50 raffle.
For the adult teams, the winner was “Austin's Team” and for the youth, the winner was the “Spartans.” The winners got $30 per person and a customized champion shirt, to show off their win.
Although this was the first event, the seniors are hopeful this event will become a tradition supporting senior classes in the future.
