The 2023 Proctor Phantoms basketball season kicked off against Division II MSJ with a scrimmage on December 4th. The scrimmage ended in a 98-44 victory for the Phantoms. They rapidly followed that up with wins during the Bob Abe Tournament.
Proctor is coming into this season as a whole new team by bringing 110% energy at all times, playing together, and trusting one another.
“Our goal this season is to make it to Barre and win the championship,” Senior Isaac Parker said.
Back in 2021, Proctor won the championship, but no fans were allowed because of Covid, so it didn’t feel the same. Therefore, the goal is to win it all in front of a crowd this season.
The Phantoms have plenty of returning players along with some new players. Proctor has five seniors playing this year, Isaac Parker, Dylan Aker, Carter Crossmon, Matt Nop, and Matt Plucin.
The Phantoms also have three starting underclassmen, Aaron Brock, Chase Razanouski, and Isaiah Fernandez. They all play a key role in Proctor's success.
Coaches Matt Parker and Bill Crossmon are focusing on defensive play and pushing the pace this season. They want to tire out their opponents and play with more intensity every game
The regular season for the Phantom Boys started with the Bob Abe tournament on the weekend of December 7th. They played Poultney High School Friday night and the Phantoms won 64-49. The boys went on a 21-0 run in the 3rd into the 4th quarter. The top scorers in this game were Carter Crossmon with 19 points and Chase Razanouski with 17 points.
With this victory, they would move on to play against Twinfield in the next round. The Phantoms were down going into the 2nd half, but they brought in a lot of energy and proceeded to win the game 81-72. The top scorers in this game were Carter Crossmon with 22 points and Chase Razanouski with 21.
The Phantoms started the year 2-0. Their next game is on December 13th at West Rutland.
