Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to develop new hardware designs for our Jet Suits, with an initial focus on the development of waterproof enclosures for electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop robust waterproof enclosures for electronic components onboard the Jet Suit.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new features onto the Jet Suit.

• Prototype new designs and lead testing processes to validate product functionality under various conditions.

• Document design processes and create reports for each project phase and test.

• Ensure designs are producible at scale.

• Provide technical support and troubleshooting during product development and post-launch phases.

• Produce assembly manuals for the enclosures designed.

• Assist in production and maintenance of whole system documentation.

Requirements:

• Strong proficiency with CAD software such as Solidworks or Fusion360.

• Experience designing for 3D printing.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable:

• Experience in mechanical design for manufacture.

• Knowledge of materials and fabrications processes related to high-performance and aerospace applications.

• Experience with the design and testing of enclosures meeting IP67 or MIL-STD-810H or similar.

• Ability to assemble and test at our main site just outside of Frome (Somerset) at least one day per week.

There will be opportunities for you to test products and components that you have worked on. You must be comfortable working creatively amongst a fast paced development schedule within a start-up environment.

The role may be part-time or full-time. The role will initially be contract based, with a review after 6 months and potential to join the team as an employee.
