The Slumberkins® program is based on sound theories of child development and social-emotional learning. Scientific, empirically based research studies were referred to while developing the Slumberkins® Lessons, to ensure that concepts and approaches proven to have beneficial effects on the development of social-emotional skills in children were included.
The program uses Slumberkins ® plush characters, stories as well as daily affirmations to engage students throughout the lessons. Slumberkins® aims to have children become self aware by looking within themselves and understanding their thoughts and feelings, and how theses thoughts and feelings are affected by and will affect the world around them. This understanding is then expanded upon and allows students to grow their social skills in an effective and positive manner.
During classroom sessions, students will explore:
A greater sense of responsibility and self awareness
Emotional identification and coping skills
Emotional regulation
Identify trusted individuals to share feelings with
Mindfulness and daily affirmations

Teens entering junior high face social pressures to experiment with tobacco products and other substances. This interactive digital experience turns their classrooms into virtual escape rooms where they work with peers to solve puzzles, developing life skills that help them resist peer pressure. A brave and innovative approach by Alberta Health Services.
The 5 lessons of GeminAI Rising cover 5 domains of social competence:
problem solving
decision making
critical thinking
self-concept
coping skills
Focusing on competency development lessens the likelihood a young person will experience health risks and also equips them with tools and confidence to respond to life’s challenges, including influences that contribute to nicotine and like substance use.
This innovative learning experience moves away from instructional methods that have been shown not to work, such as fear-based messaging, and instead calls our attention to 3 key actions:
Building social competence
Providing meaningful learning experiences
Strengthening media literacy
