The Great Debate

Our class explored the fascinating world of animal adaptations through a fun and creative project inspired by the podcast Smash Boom Best. We learned about strong arguments and what it means to deliver them with humor and style, just like the debaters on the show. First, we paired up and debated which animal was the "best," using what we learned about adaptations (the theme of our unit in our ELA curriculum). Students made slides and debated each other live with judges from around the school. Then, we turned our debates into awesome rap battles, complete with music videos that students created and edited on Canva! We used MagicSchool ai to help with preparation and writing skills. Finally, we wrote poems about our chosen animals to show off what we learned. It was a wild and wonderful way to learn about science, writing, technology and public speaking! We tried to capture the magic by creating the video/podcast below to share our debates with a wider audience. Enjoy!
