All students must also undertake a language, literacy & numeracy assessment as part of the VETRO process and to be able to access VET for Secondary Schools (VFSS) subsidised funding.
This will be administered with the school via a Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA), to better identify the suitable support needs for the learner. This activity is completed in school via an online browser, under supervision of your VET Coordinator, and is marked by online software.
The Core Skills Profile for Adults or CSPA is an approved Language, Literacy & Numeracy (LLN) assessment tool, which assesses reading, writing and numeracy skills. The CSPA takes approximately 1 – 2 hours.
Where minor gaps are identified from the CSPA, TAFE SA will discuss these with the school and the school will need to consider how they can address these gaps through curriculum and support. Where significant gaps are identified, student will not be able to continue with their study at TAFE SA.
If you have concerns regarding the language, literacy & numeracy assessment, please speak to your VET Coordinator PRIOR to undertaking the test.
