Welcome!

I would like to invite parents, guardians, and students to be a part of the AmeriCorps Kentucky College Coaches program for the 2021 - 2022 academic year. Kentucky College Coaches is an AmeriCorps service program that has been used in schools across Kentucky to educate, encourage, and aid students in enrolling in post-secondary education programs. We believe that every student can be successful at the post-secondary level and are here to assist them on their journey. Some of the activities I will perform as a College Coach consist of the following:

• Mentoring approximately 60 high school students (15 per grade level), and meeting with these students on a regular basis to review grades, test scores, and alternative routes for their future.

• Helping students file for the FAFSA/financial aid, budgeting, providing scholarships and college information, as well as exploring career opportunities.

• Organizing school-wide activities including parent nights and workshops, college/career fairs, and attending college visits.

• Providing one on one mentoring with students about aspects related to post secondary school access; the ACT/SAT, college cost and planning, KEES money, virtual tours, and self advocacy skills.

To join us in the Kentucky College Coaches program please complete the enrollment forms and return them to me as soon as possible. They can be printed and mailed into the school, turned into the office, or scanned and emailed as a pdf. Spots fill up quickly and space is limited. I look forward to working with you this year!
