What a Classroom Looks Like in 27 Countries Around the World

Beginner Projects

Teachers and students are teamed with 29 other classrooms to exchange holiday cards. Students may send Chinese New Year, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or Eid greeting cards or cards that show local celebrations during December or January. Classrooms also share some general information about their location and what makes their classroom great. Go to the site to get a reminder to sign up in the fall! PreK-6th grade


Pen Pal Exchanges

    • an opportunity for students to communicate with students in classrooms throughout the world
    • Teacher moderation ensures a safe exchange

Project Experiences

    • online project spaces, where students and teachers can collaborate on projects using Discussion Boards and other messaging tools
    • optional for teachers to moderate all messages among students

Empatico empowers teachers and students to explore the world through experiences that spark curiosity, kindness, and empathy. They combine live video with activities designed to foster meaningful connections among English speakers, age 7-11. Free

The Kidlink Project

Some Kidlink projects run only by FB groups or by email. Other projects need that participants publish and share their activities in Kidspace, which is a separate managed web space.

PenPal Schools

Connects teachers and classrooms around the world with opportunities to collaborate and create. Also includes lessons with an opportunity to write for a global audience. Teachers have access to a limited number of free classroom credits. When a teacher has referred 5 colleagues, they receive free access to PenPal Schools.

Global Oneness Project

Beautiful cultural, social and environmental stories that inspire character, critical thinking, empathy and listening. Lesson plans included. Designed for high school, but can be modified for middle school and elementary.
