Cyprus Girls Volleyball.

Cyprus girl's volleyball season is finally here! After hard work throughout last year's season, the girls were able to make it to state. But with seniors graduating, and upcoming players, will the lady pirate reach their goal again?

Open gyms have started as of March 26th every tuesdays and thursdays 3-5pm. Open gyms will be done the last day of school, May 24th, until sometime in July, then we’ll start training for tryouts.

Coach T, head coach of the cyprus girls volleyball team since last year early in the season, has big ideas and goals for this upcoming season.

Coach T’s expectations are the same for both returning players and upcoming freshmans. “As a team, we need to make sure we do well in class but also on the court”

Coach T believes what the girls do in the classroom will reflect on the court, respect, discipline, and determination will really show how dedicated we are to committing to the team.

Grades and CPA are what matter most to be eligible to play. You need a 2.0 GPA to try out but you have to maintain a 2.7 to play throughout the season. You will also need a 3.0 CPA following that.

Her goal for the season is to make sure her girls are trained well. She said her goal personally is “To be consistent with my expectations to make sure my girls are doing well in the class”

But not just the girls, the managers have the same expectations to be a part of the girl's volleyball team. With grades and behavior in the classroom.

George Heimuli, a sophomore volleyball manager is just as excited for the upcoming season to start and what it will hold. He said he became a manager because “all my sisters are on the team”

But soon fell in love with the sport with and played for the boys cyprus volleyball team. He mentioned  “I like participating in sports as well”

Ofa Taumoepeau, also a sophomore, was also a manager for the girls volleyball team. He became a manager because of his sister Tuppu Tamouepeau who was an incoming freshman and played for the volleyball team.
